Blowing off the dust!

Howdy peeps!

Anyone still on this thing? Reply and let me know! :-)

I have done quite a lot since i last updated this thing.

I'm still with Steve the guy i mentioned in my last post. We started renting a place together in April 2008 and then i found out i was pregnant a month later!

We moved from there and have now got our own place in Kimberley, which we are slowly renovating. I have 2 'stepchildren' well we aren't married, Jake & Aimee. We also have a daughter together, katie louise, born 8th of Feb 2009. She's a redhead like her mama and full of smiles. I never thought i'd ever have a baby but now i don't know how i went on without her!!

So that's it basically. I don't 'do' livejournal anymore, i'm always on facebook like the rest of the crowd.... will probably migrate to twitter one day like the rest of the sheep :-)

Toodles! Probably forever.

Well i haven't updated this thing in a long time so i might as well.

Andrew and i are selling our house. We've decided between us that the house is too big (For me to clean and for us to be in as we are with just the dog) and we're tired of living in a perfect magnolia box. That's the problem with new builds, they lack character... also the estate is so large and squashed in that everyone's houses are practically the same. I have never, as much i have tried and wanted to, ever got attached to this house.

So it's on the market this week. We're looking for something smaller, with character so we can have a more interesting space and the profit (Which will be quite large) will pay off some outstanding car finance and leave us with a nice large chunk for the deposit on the next house.

We're moving back to the town my parents live in, so we can walk to see them and go to the pub and stuff and just be nearer my family. We were thinking of moving up north nearer Andrews parents, but he appears to be much more settled in his job at the minute and has had a promotion. He's really quite happy there, so local we are staying.

We've never sold and been in a chain before, so it's quite nerve racking really. I hope we get the house we have seen it's quite unusual very 'shabby chic' and really quaint inside. There's a beautiful freestanding bath in a victorian bathroom and old fireplaces in most of the rooms, including bedrooms. I loved it as soon as we saw it, we have another viewing soon.

Other than that work for me is going well. The girls make me laugh everyday, we've been to one of their houses tonight and had haircuts (One is a hairdresser) and an indian takeaway. It's nice to have a giggle, they're so lovely to be around.

Well apart from that it's all just day to day life. It's my 24th birthday on August 25th and boy am i feeling old now. I often wonder what life would be like had i made other choices, i feel this is clearly a sign of getting old.

I leave you with a picture of the second love of my life, my little poppy who gets bigger everyday and is a constant source of joy. I think being a dog owner really makes you appreciate the simple things in life, i suppose it's the same with children.

Hmmm

It's been quite a strange week this week regarding me and people.

I shouldn't and can't go into too many details, but yeah. Very strange, some in a postive way and some in a negative way.

In other news i am bored as hell. Andy's on a lads holiday in brussels till late Monday night. I've done everything i wanted to do and now the house is too damn quiet.

Ended up online a lot and taking the dog out. Enjoyed the bed to myself and now it's too damn big for just me. I miss the moaning, trumping and constant sky sports watching haha, roll on Monday night.

Well i might as well check my emails and stuff then get a paper and some dinner. Poppy's fast asleep on the bed as we went for a long walk and tennis ball throwing session this morning.

I have actually been chatting to my ex this weekend. The only one i am and will be friends with forever. I feel quite creative now, bit strange thinking about the past.

Oh hang on Poppy's awake and trying to jump on me.

money money money

i decided last night just before going to sleep that i would make my own website one of these days.

seeing as all the trendy kids are doing it i thought i might have a bash and sell some vintage stuff and maybe some homemade things too.

Will have to come up with some catchy name and fancy designed website, which i shall have to revise on the old html and all that gubbins, it's been a while since i last did that.

I'm always feeling rather inspired during dreadful weather. It hasn't stopped raining here for days and work has been a nightmare, considering i have to send engineers around Sheffield and most of it is either closed off or flooded.

never mind. i seem to want to type an awlful lot tonight on various subjects but not in great detail. ha. what a fabulous read for people.

never mind.

it's my 24th birthday on 25th of August.

Man i feel really old.

There's so many ideas going on my head lately, not that i want to discuss them all anyway. i mean some are creative and some are about moving, wedding, things i want for my birthday, like online business ideas in my mind, etc.

i think ive just maybe drunk too much Diet coke and Coffee today. Either that or i'm bi-polar and i'm on the good stretch! haha

Cant wait for my birthday and January when we go skiing in italy. Also later in the year will be good when it's my 'father-in-law to be' birthday as we should hopefully be renting a place in whitby again. I really like whitby with the dogs and just chilling out and eating fish and chips. it's nice.

anyway i shall go and chat to my friend Natalie and my ex on msn and get this madness out of my body for now. more diet coke muwhahahaha.

gah.

We've just had my parents round for a late bbq. I always eat far too much. had some potatoes, sausages, chicken, burger, salad , cheese, tomatos and mushrooms. Needless to say we bought a little bbq today and felt like christening it!

oh i am currently in love with etsy.com

oh what an evil website! It's all little shops and a lot prettier than ebay (or ebat as i )
prefer to call it, i don't know why!)

It's been really warm today and i haven't done much bar the house and the back garden after my <3 had mowed. Really need to clean the windows and the oven, haven't done those since the house was built (14 months ago!) haha, i am so gross sometimes.

Going down Mansfield next weekend with the girls from work, can't wait for that. One of them is stopping with me at our house as i have thrown Andrew and the pooch out so i can have a weekend on my own.

Better go the ex is pm'ing me.

ha.

It would appear that i am still alive

I haven't updated this thing since Sept 06 as i haven't had a good computer since then.

So lemme see whats happened since then... in brief.

We had a fairly crap christmas as Andy's dad hasn't been too well over the past year, but health is better than presents!

We went Skiing for 2 weeks to Kimberley, Canada in January. Was absolutely brilliant!! I have photos on old computer i will upload soon enough, including a dog sleigh ride. Oh the Huskys were so cute!

Been to see Lionel Ritchie in concert (Was my Christmas present from Andrew)

Had a newer car. Still a bloody Nissan Micra though! haha

Poppy the collie dog turned 1 on may 12th

Andrew turned 30 on May 8th and we celebrated 1 years engagement.

We celebrated 2 years together on 27th April at a chinese restaurant.

Been making Wedding plans for next year up north where the in-laws live.

I bought my wedding dress when we went shopping together, just me and Andrew. It's a shame mum wasn't there and Andy saw it a bit but that's just me.... unpredictable!

Spent a week in Whitby and really enjoyed it. First holiday with Andrew's parents and it was really good, they are really laid back and easy to get on with.

Having fun with the girls at work.

Home life is great. Me and Andy are really loving our home and i'm cleaning and brooding to my hearts content. Awwwww.

I'm really happy, everythings just great in my life. Looking forward to skiing and wedding next year, although in true Rachel style i should imagine the holiday will be more expensive than the wedding. We've decided we're not having a major big do. We're not having a sit down meal, we want a jazz band, bouncy Castle and a Hog roast and buffet. It's going to be so us. Laid back and a good laugh.

After that i suppose it will children soon enough, must say i can't wait!

Life

Finally we have the internet again! Our laptop died and we have internet, my dad has no internet and a PC, So it made sense to pinch his computer!

Things are going really well with us. The house is finally coming together and all the little niggly jobs are being ticked off the list one by one. I think we're finally in a routine, i.e not letting the washing fall out the room when i open the door but actually keeping on top of it all. We have turf in the back garden at last and the outside is looking as good as the inside.

Poppy is now about 15 weeks old and has become the most loyal and wonderful puppy ever. She's very intelligent and melts my heart, she has made our lives complete. I could go on about her all day, but i'll spare you :)

It was my 23rd Birthday on August 25th. I had a fabulous time, went down town with the girls from work and we had a great night. I got some fab presents:

Choccies. - Andrew
Jack Daniels. - Andrew
Flowers. - Andrew
Paris Hilton perfume (Laugh but i like it!) - Andrew
A pink Radley handbag - Andrew's sister
A antique lace handbag - Andrew's mum & dad
Antique earrings - Andrews mum & dad
Antique scarf - Andrews mum & dad
Best auntie in the world mug (From Isaac)
Patio table and 4 matching chairs - my mum & dad
A belt - my mum and dad

All in all it's been a fabulous month or 2. I'm still as happy as ever.

We've booked for 2 weeks skiing in Canada in January, so can't wait for that. Got a week booked off in October just to spend some time with each other and poppy so looking forward to that too.

It seems like a few of my friends are doing nothing other than get pregnant lately, needless to say i've no desire to join the club just yet thank you very much! lol

Anyway i'd better go wash and straighten my hair, we have company photos being taken tomorrow and i have to get my uniform ready too (I have to wear like an 1980's airhostess kind of thing. Blue pinstripe suit and a red tie, yikes!) Good job i love my job and the girls there it's work wearing the crap uniform for.

Over and out.

Rachel, Andrew, Poppy & Harry.

Poppy

We have a puppy!

We've been thinking about a dog ever since we moved into the house. We did discuss various breeds and decided we'd have a rescue dog.

We did have a German Shepard cross with a dobermann on hold, but decided against it as she'd get too big for us in the long run.

We found a self funded animal shelter which we visited Thursday night and got her the same night, a little Collie dog puppy. She's ten weeks and 2 days old, tri colour and her name is Poppy. She's been an absolute angel bar at bedtime when she's been a complete whiney nightmare! Yap yap yap. I've been up quite a bit with her getting her used to her cage, Andrew's been up with her since about 5 this morning. It's like having a baby, only more tiring! At least a baby will lay or sit in something and sleep a lot unaided lol.

Don't regret it for a minute though and absolutely everyone thinks she's dream! My parents love her and Andrew's mum and dad are down next weekend to see her and stay with us. I'm sure they'll adore her too!

:) Life is grand!

Is this thing still here?

It's incredibly rare if i'm on the internet these days.

Me and my wonderful fiance spent a lovely week in Turkey, we've been back a week. I didn't tan, but i never try to anyway as the sun is evil and more people should realise this! We had a fabulous time just chilling out and eating some wonderful food. It's been nearly 6 years since my last chill out sunshine holiday and it was just what i needed. I haven't been swimming for years and haven't been in the sea for years, i forgot how incredible it is for the soul just to splash about in the sea.

Turkey is a beautiful place, we went to side (pronounced see-day) about an hour from the capital. It's really historical too, with some wonderful ruins to visit. The only downside of Turkey is the pushy people, you cannot escape it arrgggh!

In all we had a great time and i had to bring some apple tea back for myself.

Other than that it's been work and house, house and work. I clean and my darling cooks, boy can he cook! We've hardly eaten any real processed food since we been in the house (Which is over 3 months now)

I'm loving work. My job is basically sending 18 engineers to different companies to fix photocopiers. I deal with Leeds, out to Hull and everywhere down to Sheffield. I love my job, the engineers are lovely and my collegues are a great bunch of girls who are the nicest people.

What else is happening with us? Ermmm, oh we're going to book for skiing again for January. I keep hearing Canada and France being mentioned, both of which quite frankly appeal to me!

We pick up our new car Monday night too, a grey Vectra, which is really nice. Hopefully i'll get to be on the Insurance, but being under 25 could be a bit too expensive on it, we'll see.

So yeah Andrew and i are mostly work, house and travel plans. There's always lots of ideas and plans for the future we're discussing and changing and just pondering. The wedding has been put on the back burner for a few years to enable time to plan and save. We've discussed many plans but a wedding abroad seems to be the plan that we keep going back to most of the time. I need to get my mother on a plane! She won't yet, but she'd better.

Anyway i'm pooped and Andrew's just gone up.

PS. I'm in love with Christina's new song.

Life Updates for moi

Well hello there LJ friends! This is a post for me to keep looking at when i'm having a low day or when i need a boost about what i've achieved in the last few months. Feel free to read or pass by. :)

My goals are going well:

Weight loss

I'm now 10 stone 10 pounds from 12 stone 7 pounds.

175 pounds down to 150 pounds. I think thats right in pounds anyway!

Result so far = 25 pounds lost.

Smoking

I've not a ciggie since Wednesday at midnight. I've had 4 drags on a friends and it was disgusting! Bleurgh. Never realised how disgusting it is! I'm using patches and it's going well. I will quit that nasty habit :) All money saved is going into my savings account so i can have a new car.

Results so far = £15 saved since Wednesday and 60 ciggies not smoked (20 a day usually)

Dating

I've being seeing Marc for week now and have seen him (Last Thursday, Friday, Sunday and Wednesday just gone) 4 nights in total. I'm really happy and we'll see if it turns into anything.... i'm just completely relaxed and i don't mind if it does or doesn't. I'm just happy being me! It's fun and thats what i've been missing.

Social life

I'm in Birmingham end of this month with all my work collegues who i speak to, will be a blast. Me, Mel, Sam and Ronnie (Veronica) will be going to Magaluf in August on a girls holiday. I'm out with my old school friends for dinner beginning of May and out in Mansfield with them later in the month. I'm also out with Mel in Nottingham soon. I've never been so busy and i'm loving it!

Look

Currently still growing hair, finally got some good straightners and keeping up with the highlights. Make-up has become simple and flattering, dumped eyeshadow for good as i realised it wasn't suiting me anyway. Have a stack of things to put on ebay, to also add to Car savings. Regular skins creams are being used and my cellulite has deceased by 70% thanks to a smashing cream from Marks & Spencers.

Nails are once more in tip top shape and are growing, they're being booked in for regular manicures within the next 6 weeks. I have spoken to a nail lady in Huthwaite who my mums friend uses and she has excellent results with what she does.

Dammit!

When I went to Nic's that terrible Sunday, I sorted out my computer at his house and put everything I wanted to keep on a CD. All photos of family and friends, irreplacable photos I loved, ones of Nic and I on holiday in London, Paris & Amsterdam, fun times, goofy smile ones and others. I wanted them because I could look back when the hurt had passed and just remembered what fun we had and places we'd been and still love him from afar, I guess.

Doesn't matter now anyway... bloody CD doesn't work.

I am completely gutted. There were pictures of Molly, Molly's first birthday party, a lovely one of me & my parents at a friends wedding and a gorgeous one of Nic in Amsterdam that i just wanted to keep, my all time favourite picture of him.

Fucking technology.

Now i really do have nothing........

The problem is....

Most of my LJ friends are American.

No, that's not the problem lol.

Whenever i'm awake or at work (notice the 'or' there) all my friends are in bed or far too busy at work to post. So i'm here, constantly hitting F5, for nothing :\

When i'm ready for bed or in bed, you lot are awake! Grrrrr. So in the mornings i have umpteen pages to catch up on. Pooooooooooo.

Just thought i'd have a rant about it for 2 minutes, it killed some time at work :)
